Some things that helped me to lose weight
Never Miss a Meal I would often skip meals in the attempt to lose weight by cutting out the calories, this was a mistake as the body. The body will lose weight if you don't eat but this has a negative effect on your metabolism.
Your metabolism slows down because your body thinks it is starving resulting in more weight gain when you eat again. After skipping meals I would also binge eat because I had deprived my body for so long and I would eat all the worst foods possible!
Stay Away from The Scales One of the biggest demotivators in losing weight is checking your weight every day, or as I used to, every day and night to see if there was any difference at all. I would get depressed if I hadn't lost any weight and I would feel even worse if I had put weight on.
The body sometimes hold water and your weight does vary and in fact muscle weighs more than fat so if you were doing exercise and building muscle tone then your weight could stay the same but you have actually lost weight. It's not healthy to obsess about your weight and when it makes you feel worse you eat for comfort, well I did anyway!
Your weight should be monitored but only say once a month, but this should be combined with tracking measurements around your waist, arms etc to see if you are actually losing inches.
Don't Count Calories The same is true when it comes to counting calories, if you obsess over how many calories a food contains then you are going to live a pretty miserable life. Portion size and the types of food are important but you should still eat a little of what you fancy, just try to be good most of the time and reduce portion size.
